Even though it's difficult for all of us, it's wise to plan ahead for the event of a serious illness. A sensible option and an important component of general life planning in old age is drafting an advance directive. The goal is to capture your personal wishes and concerns as accurately as possible in the event of an emergency. An advance directive should therefore always be individually and specifically formulated. Since these often touch on existential aspects, clarifying these questions is often easier with a medically experienced partner.
